Discover Mount Morris
A message from our Mayor Joel W. Mike

Welcome to the Village of Mount Morris! Our community was incorporated in 1835 and is named after Robert Morris, a financier of the American Revolution. Located at the northeastern entrance to Letchworth State Park and with so many things to do and see Mount Morris is a great place to visit and live.

Respectful of our Past...
One of our many claims to fame is that Francis Bellamy, the author of our country's Pledge of Allegiance, was born here. Our first permanent resident was War of 1812 Brigadier General William H. Mills. Our community runs along the Genesee Valley which is home to fertile agricultural lands and once the site of prominent Seneca Nation Indian Villages. We have an active Historical Society always looking to educate and entertain those interested in learning more about our rich and diverse past.

Realistic about the Present...
Our community is experiencing a period of socioeconomic growth with the investment and engagement in several initiatives to continue to beautify and pave the way for future residents to make Mount Morris their community too. We have a competent local public safety team lead by our very own Village Police and Fire Departments as well as a talented team of village department leaders and employees handling everything from public works to fielding questions to help residents and visitors have a great Mount Morris experience.

Optimistic about our Future...
Please check our Initiatives page for all the exciting partnerships and investments our community is participating in to increase tourist traffic and also convince visitors to see why this is a great community to call home!
